After Paramore for the global and Frank Turner for the german-speaking edition of Record Store Day, an ambassador has now been announced for the United Kingdom as well. With Kate Bush, an absolute icon has been chosen, whose music has experienced unprecedented success in recent years, especially due to the series ‚Stranger Things.‘ The musician feels very honored to take on the role. She herself comments on her appointment and the ongoing vinyl boom:
„Isn’t it great to see how the resurgence in vinyl has taken the music industry by complete surprise? It had decided to leave vinyl far behind, but it would seem that not everyone agrees! I love that! (…) The added bonus of vinyl is that it encourages people to listen to albums. An art form that I’ve always thought can be treasured in a unique way. An album on vinyl is a beautiful thing, given a strong identity by its large-scale artwork. There’s a much more personal connection with the artist and their work.“
10″ release by Kate Bush for Record Store Day
In light of these words, it should come as no further surprise that on April 20, a release by Kate Bush will also be on the shelves of all participating record stores in UK.
Fans can look forward to an exclusive 10″ edition of ‚Eat The Music.‘ The single was originally intended to be the first release from her 1993 album ‚Red Shoes‘ but was withdrawn in favor of ‚Rubberhand Girl.‘ The edition will be released as a UV-printed 10″ Picture Disc and will include the songs ‚Eat The Music,‘ ‚Lily,‘ and ‚Big Stripey Lie.‘
„The image was intended to be on the cover of the single bag and is now on the disc as a UV print. The title, Eat the Music, is meant to be a playful nod to ‚If music be the food of love, play on,‘ from Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night.“, said the singer about her release for Record Store Day 2024.
